Gentian Pond & Dream Lake
Gentian Pond is a tarn (a small mountain lake) situated at 2,165 feet along the intersection of the Austin Brook and Mahoosuc Trails. Named after the small, deep blue Bottle Gentian wildflower, this pond is a beautiful destination where visitors can enjoy the waters on a day hike or stay for the evening in the Gentian Pond shelter. Leashed dogs are welcome, and as this shelter is right along the Appalachian Trail, over-night campers can expect to be joined by thru-hikers during the peak hiking season.
Dream Lake can be found at the top of Peabody Brook Trail, and just south of the Appalachian Trail. At about 2,000 feet of elevation, Dream Lake is a beautiful spot to catch views of Mt. Adams and the Northern Presidential Mountains.
