Great Gulf Wilderness Trailhead

Built between 1908 and 1910, the Great Gulf Trails used paths nature had already made, i.e. landslides, boulders, and talus fields. Hikers should prepare for a challenging, direct route into the alpine zone of the Presidential Range, and be rewarded with spectacular, expansive views. Much of the Great Gulf Wilderness can be accessed from this trailhead, making it a popular, highly visited area during peak hiking season. Vault toilets are available, and there is a small recreation fee to help maintain the area.
