Pine Mountain Trail (via Gorham downtown)

This is the longer Pine Mountain Trail option and can be accessed right from Downtown Gorham. There is a parking area is at the far end of Promenade Street (note that the road turns to dirt and is not plowed in winter) near a large gravel pit. Alternatively, and preferably, you can park on Railroad Street and walk up Church Street to access the trail. From Gorham to the Pine Mountain summit is just under 3 miles and moderately challenging. Please keep in mind that the latter part of the hike is on the property of a private camp. The Horton Center (owned and operated by the NH Conference of the United Church of Christ) kindly welcomes hikers to walk the trails on their property, but requests they steer clear of the campus while camp is in session. In the off-season, hikers are welcome to scramble up Chapel Rock and enjoy the stunning views (and the large cross at the top), unless the sign is up across bottom of the stairs at the beginning of the Chapel Rock trail.
