Presidential Rail Trail
The Presidential Rail Trail is a multi-use trail that runs from the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge in Whitefield to the Rt. 2 parking area in Gorham, New Hampshire. Running along the edge of the White Mountain National Forest, and at the base of the Presidential Range, the four-season rail trail is approximately 19 miles of stunning mountain scenery, with rideable surfaces ranging from packed/loose gravel to dirt to grass. The great part is you can explore a small section, or the whole trail. Outdoor enthusiasts can expect a gradual climb from Gorham to Pondicherry (sometimes a bit bumpy) as a bike ride / walk / hike / snowmobile ride / horseback ride and more with spectacular views, abundant wildflowers in the summertime, and incredible fall foliage during the autumn months. Exploration is welcome year-round, and the trail is open to cyclists, horseback riders, walkers, mushers, XC skiers, snowshoers, and gentle-speed snow machining.
