Local Library Love.

Local Library Love.

If you’re passing through town, you might not think to stop by the local library. If you happen to fall into that camp, chances are you’re missing out on one of the best hidden treasures of this small mountain town.

The Gorham Public Library serves not only as a place for reading material, but a community gathering place that holds year-round events, art shows, and various educational workshops for every age and interest. Of particular note is their children’s book section, which is wonderfully extensive and constantly acquiring new and thoughtful titles. The adjoining play space – designed with busy little bodies in mind – gives grown-ups the time and space to peruse the aisles and search for summertime reads. And speaking of, if you’re not sure what you’re looking for, ask one of the librarians; They’re mind readers when it comes to picking the perfect book.

The library also offers free internet and one of the most picturesque outdoor seating areas, making working remotely (or just enjoying the sunset with a good read …), an absolute joy. Centrally located to the Town Common, art galleries, shops, and dining options, the library is a perfect place to check out (get it? Nothing like a good library pun …).

Library hours are Monday through Friday, 10am – 6pm, and in the summertime, Saturday’s from 10am-1pm.
